This Indian hand-painted "Rock Art" pottery comes from the high plateau country of the West, where the desert and the mountains meet. The Navajo or Ute artists, who sign each piece, combine their natural artistic talents with the inspiration of their cultural and breathtaking beauty of their homeland. Dedicated to preserving their Native American heritage, these extremely talented individuals provide you with a Certificate of Authenticity and Workmanship Guarantee. And in consideration of the environment, only lead free paints & glazes are used. Please clean your new work-of-art with only a damp cloth.
The Rock Art Pottery designs are very representative of the symbols used by the Anasazi Indians (The Ancient Ones) of the Southwest. Unlike the other pottery which is usually smooth & polished on the exterior, this style Native American pottery has more of a traditional sandstone texture. Prominently displayed is the humpbacked flute player, a deity rooted deep in tradition of many Pueblo peoples. To the Hopi, he is Kokopelli, influential in fertility & abundance in the fields or on a hunt.
