• A. Hawk Tail: these have varied shades of light & dark brown bars with darker brown tips.  Excellent for fans, traditional outfits, old-time bustles, hair feathers, etc.
• B. Red Tail Hawk: these are painted a beautiful reddish cinnamon brown with black highlights.  Very popular for traditional & old-style bustles, fans & scalp feathers.
• C. Harris Hawk: an unusually marked hawk feather in that it has a white tip & base, with a dark brown or black center, which makes a striking flat or loose fan...and is also quite nice for scalp feathers & ladies hair feathers.
• D. Cooper Hawk: The Cooper hawk is native to many parts of North America & its feathers have fine stripes with broad, alternating stripes of light & dark brown.
• E. Owl: While not used by some tribes, owl feathers are prized for making arrows and used in old-style Sioux bustles.  Beautiful shades of orange make it very difficult to tell it from a real owl feather.
• F. Yellow Flicker: although not used by all tribes, feathers from the flicker woodpecker are often seen on various items of Peyote equipment, or tied to Straight Dance bandoliers as "love feathers".  They can also be used for scalp feathers and other decorative applications.  Unusually colored, they feature a bright yellow shaft and pointed tip.
