Sage, like sweetgrass, is a symbol of purity & cleanliness. The leaves, valued for their aromatic properties, are a natural moth repellent & believed to cure headaches. Sage can also be used as tea for a calming effect, to aid digestion or chewed for a breath freshener. Native American smudging or healing ceremonies will use sage as well as sweetgrass in an abalone shell for cleansing. Or simply use it for its wonderfully clean scent.
