The Library of Congress houses more than 2500 Native American musical recordings made between 1907 & 1941. Kevin Locke presents some of these Indian songs in their unadorned form among the birds, wind, & waters of the Dakotas. There is a little bit of chanting but mostly "The First Flute" is a quiet album with a beautiful purity & authenticity to it. Recorded at the Standing Rock Reservation. Available in cassette & CD.
